Supporting Clients Through Major Life Transitions 2 CEUs

Overview:

Major life transitions—such as career changes, relocation, relationship shifts, parenthood, divorce, retirement, or health-related changes—can significantly impact an individual’s emotional well-being, identity, and sense of stability. While transitions can create opportunities for growth, they often involve uncertainty, loss, and increased stress, which may lead to anxiety, depression, or difficulty adjusting. Clients frequently seek therapy during these periods but may struggle to articulate the complexity of their experience.

In this presentation, Dr. Zairys Feliz, Ph.D., LCSW, will guide participants in understanding and supporting clients navigating major life transitions. Attendees will explore the psychological and emotional processes involved in change, including identity shifts, grief, and adaptation. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing both the challenges and opportunities inherent in transitions, as well as identifying factors that influence resilience and adjustment.

Participants will learn practical, evidence-informed strategies to help clients process change, manage uncertainty, build coping skills, and develop a more cohesive sense of self during periods of transition. This training will equip clinicians with tools to support clients in navigating life changes with greater clarity, flexibility, and confidence.

Objectives:

  • Analyze the psychological and emotional impact of major life transitions on clients.

  • Identify common challenges related to identity, loss, and adjustment during periods of change.

  • Apply evidence-informed strategies to support coping, resilience, and adaptation.
